Heirloom birch gets raves in this home renovation
Posted by Christine Halvorson

A customer of ours, Ann, sent along these photos to—as she said—help us “show off our product.”
She included Carlisle’s Heirloom Birch floors in a recent remodeling of her Gainesville, Virginia home. The photos here show the floors in 6- to 9-inch widths and finished with Tung Oil.
“We get nothing but raves!” Ann writes.

Prefinished floors are great choice in this home remodel
Posted by Christine Halvorson
A customer of ours, Shelly, sent along these photos of her recently installed Prefinished Eastern White Pine floor. Her floors were also done in our hit-or-miss style. Prefinished floors are a great option for families who don’t want or can’t take the time to store the boards upon arrival and to go through the staining process. For a long time, Carlisle did not offer prefinished floors because we wanted to do it right. We wanted to be sure we could deliver the traditional look for which we had become known, and we wanted to make sure we could do it in an environmentally responsible way.
Prefinished floors are done with Carlisle’s Custom Coat stains and topcoats and these are different than any others you’ll find on the market. They are different in the way they were formulated and the are different in how they are applied. First off, we put the stains onto the BOTTOM of the boards as well—the part that isn’t going to show once you install it. This helps eliminate any moisture problems and is one of the things that makes us unique. We use the stain to seal the board up tight. Our stains also have an additive that inhibits the growth of mold and mildew.
Our stains and topcoats contain no VOCs—that’s Volatile Organic Compounds—which can escape into the air and cause health problems.
The hit-or-miss style is one of the handmade surfaces we offer to give your floor a bit more personality.
As with our unfinished floors, we can create virtually any look and style you want to build the floor of your dreams.

Small kitchen transformation dramatic with the addition of wide plank floors
Posted by Christine Halvorson
Proving that wide plank floors can really change the look and feel of a kitchen, our customer Michele Johnson sent along these before-and-after photos of a project recently completed in her home. She added our Eastern White Pine to her floor and look at the dramatic transformation! Furthermore, we often get questions regarding using such wide planks as ours in smaller rooms. Some just aren’t sure small rooms and something that wide go togehter. We think these photos prove what we’ve said all along—the answer is “Yes! It works!”
We discuss this idea of wide boards in small rooms here ,

Here’s what Michele wrote to us when she sent the photos:
“We finally got the beautiful new floor laid and I couldn’t be happier! It is truly lovely! I’d like to share the before and after photos with you. I think you will agree that there is a huge difference in the way the kitchen looks.”—Michele
