Boston Magazine: Carlisle Pre-Finished Walnut Floors

We are excited to be a part of the Boston Design Fall 2011 Issue, in the article “Doing Wright” by Marni Elyse Katz featuring the work and family home of Boston Architect Tom Murdough of Murdough Design.

This home features Wide Plank Walnut floors designed to maintain a balance between contemporary and casual.  Several large test samples were made to approve the Clear Satin finish for the floor to give the boards a rich, but lighter overall cocoa tone.  This along with the softer grain of Walnut flooring, is a perfect complement to the other woodworking and detail of the home.  He chose All 7” wide boards and had the floor graded with Carlisle’s Signature grade of Walnut that would give the floor just the right amount of character.  It was also important that the floor stand up to waterfront living and the radiant heat – which is why Carlisle was a perfect fit.

Also involved in the project were popular and long-time custom builder Wood & Clay Builders located in Gilford, New Hampshire, and Wellesley, MA.
