Eastern White Pine really shines in this New Jersey home
Posted by Christine Halvorson
Just take some really wide boards of Eastern White Pine. Treat them naturally, with just a coating of Tung Oil. Here’s what you get! This project was in the home of Charlie and Sarah Hatfield of Lambertville, New Jersey. Check out the many personalities of Eastern White Pine here on our sample page and read more about this famous wood here. This wood was the first choice of the early Colonists in New England, who used it not just for floors but for their structural timbers and siding. This wood was so plentiful that it had been called “the wood that spawned the American Industrial Revolution.”
It comes in widths from 6 to 20 inches and lengths up to 11 feet. You might also wish to check out its southern cousin Longleaf Heart Pine.

Beautiful Walnut floor for custom home in Rochester, NY
Posted by Christine Halvorson

A customer in Rochester, NY had Carlisle craft the beautiful floor in these pictures for his custom home. The floor is 8-inch wide heirloom grade American Black Walnut and finished with our high resin tung oil finish.
In the photos at left, note the rich dark chocolate color, purplish overtones and complex swirling grain patterns.
As Carlisle’s Glen Ranagan noted: “What a gorgeous floor in an incredible home!”

Not your average floor staining project
Posted by Christine Halvorson
We just loved this innovation in floor staining, used on one of Carlisle’s White Oak floors, done in 6-inch wide planks. The floors were rift and quartered as well. This is the floor in a home builder’s own home, and the lovely pattern on the floor was created by Bill Corcoran of Neighborhood Hardwood Floors in nearby Nashua, New Hampshire.
What do you think? So far these boards don’t have a finish on them. We’ll show you those photos a little later.

Pine mixed well with contemporary styling on the prairie
Posted by Christine Halvorson
A homeowner in Portage, Wisconsin combined a contemporary Prairie-style designed home with original grade Eastern White Pine and the results are stunning.
The six-inch wide planks ran right to the floor to ceiling windows. For the outside decking, the same width planks were used and aligned, thus giving the floor a continuous look right to the outside.
The house used 1,500 square feet of the pine, done in Oatmeal Stout stain and finished with Tung oil.
Here are photos of the whole stunning building project, courtesy of the builder.
