Down in Louisiana, Carlisle’s Eastern White Pine is a hit

Here’s a homeowner who has installed 10-inch wide Eastern White Pine with hit-or-miss miling.  The floor is stained with Bradford Umber and finished with Tung oil.  This was completely a do-it-yourself project. The installation and finishing were done by the customer. He’s so happy he may be doing a bedroom floor soon. He writes:

“We get complements all the time. People love it and can’t get over the fact that I did it myself. It’s funny. Some people just go on and on about it. We’re very pleased.”

Carlisle partners with Crown Point in contributing a little something to Homes for Our Troops

We were delighted when our good friends at Crown Point Cabinetry asked us about building materials for a project they were doing for Homes for Troops, a favorite group of Crown Point’s president Brian Stowell.  Back in May, Brian came to us looking for some Antique Heart Pine for cabinets he would donating to the organization. We rustled some up for his project, which is now well underway and the cabinets are due to be installed in the new house very soon.

As you’ll see by this blog post over at Wood Shavings, Crown Point has been working with Homes for Troops for some time now, having completed five projects with them. Homes for Troops raises money, finds building materials and recruits skilled labor to build adapted homes for members of the military who come home from their tours of duty with injuries. The most recent project is for a young man who is now paralyzed from the upper chest down as a result of sniper fire in Iraq.

This particular home will meet a very high standard for energy efficiencies and being environmentally friendly. Crown Point handcrafts universal cabinetry from Carlisle’s responsibly reclaimed Antique Heart Pine. Production for the home for Visnu Gonzalez (upper left)  in New Jersey is underway now at Crown Point headquarters (left). The cabinetry includes such adaptations as open areas under the counter space and cabinets that are shorter than standard. There are also pull-down features to the upper cabinets, according to Crown Point’s designer Melissa Billings.

Crown Point Cabinetry has been our partner for a while. We provide them with reclaimed wood for use in making their wonderful cabinets.  We often work together when there’s a trade show, by using their cabinets in our booth and our floors in their booth. It’s a great partnership and we’re delighted to have gotten involved in this worthy cause with them.

For this customer, Carlisle proved to “rock” and “rule”

We haven’t gotten photos of this project yet, but we wanted to share this note from a customer in New Jersey, who recently took delivery of the Carlisle Eastern White Pine floor that they had ordered. We, of course, love getting letters like this. This one was so over-the-top, we had to share it right away! The customers sent this note along to Gary Ryer, one of our design and sales consultants based in our Stoddard offices. They wrote:

Hi Gary,

We just had to write you to let you know that the wide plank flooring arrived today at 3.  I don’t know what to say next….They are spectacularly beautiful, gorgeous, to die for, awesome, fantastic, terrific and every other happy descriptive word you can think of!!!  Even in their raw state, they take your breath away!!!  Needless to say, we can’t wait for installation day!  (We hit a small snag with countertop delivery but all will go smoothly once that all falls into place.)

We were also shocked at the 15’ planks!  We had to change to a larger room to let the wood acclimate!  That was a happy change, though!!!  You know how to take good care of your clients!

Gary, thank you for EVERYTHING, from beginning to end!  You and Carlisle rock, rule and are undoubtedly #1!!!!  I will follow up when the floors get installed, which we can’t wait for!!!

It’s been a sincere pleasure doing business with you!

Best regards,

Decorati Access takes positive note of Carlisle’s wood flooring offerings

We were delighted to see that Decorati Access Interior Design Magazine recently made mention of Carlisle Wide Plank Flooring in a July 11 article about wood floorings for the kitchen.

If the kitchen is the heart of the home, wood flooring must be the soul!, writes author Susan Serra.  We couldn’t agree more! She wrote:

“Carlisle Flooring is a staple for many design professionals and for good reason. Wide planks and a great variety of wood species make Carlisle a natural for restoration projects. The number of flooring options is dizzying, but that also means that most likely, the nuance in your flooring that you are looking for may well be found within Carlisle’s product line. My clients have always been pleased with their Carlisle floors.”
