Think modern and traditional don’t blend? Think again
Posted by Christine Halvorson

You probably couldn’t get more up-to-the-minute modern than this architect’s home, wouldn’t you agree? Yet, when it came time to choosing the floors to go under that ultra-modern furniture, this customer chose our Reclaimed Oak. According to our Dan O’Neill, who works out of Carlisle’s Carlifornia design studios, a thoroughly modern customer will often choose something like a stained concrete, or a tile, or even a mass-produced engineered flooring option. None of those would have worked here, Dan points out. The whole feel would have turned cold, he suggests. Wood that’s likely more than 100 years old really warms up the place, don’t you think?Learn more about our FSC Reclaimed Floor options

We love it when our customers send us their love
Posted by Christine Halvorson

A customer from McMurray, PA, filled out a comment card with praise for her original grade Heart Pine flooring.“We love our floor and as we get ready to redo our kitchen we will be in touch for more flooring,” wrote the customer.
The order was for 280 square feet of the Heart Pine, pre-finished with Gingerbread Stain with 7, 9 and 11-inch random face widths and 11-inch average lengths. (Read more about our stains here.)

Eastern White Pine really shines in this New Jersey home
Posted by Christine Halvorson
Just take some really wide boards of Eastern White Pine. Treat them naturally, with just a coating of Tung Oil. Here’s what you get! This project was in the home of Charlie and Sarah Hatfield of Lambertville, New Jersey. Check out the many personalities of Eastern White Pine here on our sample page and read more about this famous wood here. This wood was the first choice of the early Colonists in New England, who used it not just for floors but for their structural timbers and siding. This wood was so plentiful that it had been called “the wood that spawned the American Industrial Revolution.”
It comes in widths from 6 to 20 inches and lengths up to 11 feet. You might also wish to check out its southern cousin Longleaf Heart Pine.

Customer says she’s in wood heaven
Posted by Christine Halvorson
Rita Causey of Brea, California was kind enough to send us a note about her experience with installing one of our Hickory floors. She ordered 768 square feet of Premium Grade Hickory in 5- to 10-inch widths. The boards were delivered prefinished with Amber stain. She said: “I am in wood heaven! My Carlisle wide plank Country Grade Hickory is beyond beautiful and I am in love with it…I have a Walnut kitchen island (distressed) and the contrast is gorgeous! Love real wood!”
Don’t take our word for it. See Nancy’s note for yourself:
We love real wood, too, obviously.
