Design Boards: Rustic Lodge Living Room
In our first segment in our new series “Design Boards” we’re looking at a beautiful mountain lodge designed by Country Mountain Homes of Colorado designed by architect Raw Architecture.
Walls & Ceilings
This home features pine paneling on the most of the walls and ceiling. This is a natural fit for a log home with expansive ceilings and an open concept design. You can recreate this with pine flooring and choose from a variety of paneling options. Rocky Mountain Log Homes provided hand-peeled pine logs that were finished to match the rest of the woodworking. You can see the hand peeled caving marks.
Wood Flooring
Wide Plank Prefinished hardwood flooring is a great backdrop to this living room. The Brown Maple flooring that was used has a smooth grain pattern but also an interesting variation of color and character from mellow gold to richer brown and auburn hues. The maple hardwood flooring is finished with a light stain to accent the wall and log colors and furniture selections.
Notice how the ceiling boards and logs are all the same width but they used random widths in the flooring. This is a great design accent!
Fireplace
There are some very interesting aspects to the fireplace design.
The stonework on the fireplace is very interesting. The Top Rock style from Eldorado Stone has a similar style that might replicate this perfectly!
Then there is the hand carved fireplace mantle from CarvedbyRamsey. The intricate detail and craftsmanship that goes into the mantle is a reflection of the builders and homeowners respect for quality.
Furniture
It was a little bit harder to track down the right substitutes for the furniture in this room but we sure had a lot of fun looking.
The Joinery provides hand crafted occasional tables and entertainment units with similar finishes and styles – albeit slightly different dimensions.
This mahogany colored leather couch from Bradington & Young features the rich color and striping detail. And yes it comes with matching club chairs if just the couch isn’t enough.
Then we have the striking red armchairs against the windows. Can’t you just picture yourself curled up with a good book. It was hard to find the same armchairs especially with the gold stitch detail, but these red leather armchairs from Neiman Marcus aren’t bad.
Lighting
The lighting within the room is one of the best features in the house – the owner has a collection of Tiffany lamps.
There is the decorative chandelier hanging from the ceiling with what appears to be brass accents. This Light Uplight Chandelier from the Feiss Cervantes Collection seems like a good match.
