Carlisle has partnered with cabinetmakers Jewett Farms for some time now, with Carlisle’s floors underfoot in their design studios. Now we’re also working together to put on a series of educational forums, Architect Nights, that are eligible for continuing education credits with The American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Interior Designers. The sessions include installing our wide plank floors over radiant heat, green building techniques and reclaimed wood.
We held our first such Jewett/Carlisle event on September 9, with about 15 architects, designers and builders joining us. Randy Willard of New England Warmboard, a radiant heat company, was one of our presenters. Attendees also learned about Carlisle’s process of harvesting the trees that make our floors, plus air drying and milling the boards.
More presentations are planned on “All Things Green” for November 11, 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Jewett Farms Studio in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Another will be February 3, 2010, when the topic will be antique woods and presented by our own Mark Nichols of the Carlisle New England Deisgn Team here in Stoddard, New Hampshire.
