Making a difference: Carlisle donates birch floor to stroke victim from Georgia

  • Posted by

After David Lee, 80, had a stroke, he needed to make some modifications to his Georgia home so he’d be able to get around first in a wheelchair and then using a walker. The carpeted floors made mobility virtually impossible for Mr. Lee, who was partially paralyzed on his left side.

That’s where Carlisle came in. We donated a new floor: Country Grade Birchprefinished with Concord Honey stain and a poly top coat. Another company, Southern Diversified Products, donated Mythic Non-Toxic Paint in Classic Sage to provide a cheery and safe healing environment for Mr. Lee.

We’re very proud of this project, which was written up in the spring issue of Fabulous Floors magazine. Click here to read the story and see photographs.

We’re also proud of Matthew Farhm, who installed Mr. Lee’s new floor and who has done many Carlisle installations. Matt is based in Acworth, Georgia, and is willing to travel anywhere to install a floor. He says in the Fabulous Floors story, “What goes on behind the scene is just as important as what you see in the final product. Maybe even more important. If the planks aren’t installed properly or the material isn’t stable, then a beautiful floor may not be beautiful for very long. I feel confident that when you work with quality material and install it just right, there are no issues. Just a lot of pleasure in the work and pride in the results.”

Matt can be reached at Farhm Floors, 603-496-4165.
