Depending on where you are located, fall has officially rolled in, complete with fall foliage reaching full bloom, and brisk morning temperatures. Today, we’ll go over a few fun, and simple ways to enjoy the fall season from inside and outside your home.

Festive fall signCurb Appeal

As things get cool and colorful outside your home, you’ve probably added some décor to your front porch, and ring in this splendid time of year.

Pumpkins, mums, wreaths, and scarecrows are just a few of the fun accents you can use. It is a great way to give your home some curb appeal and welcome guests — especially trick-or-treaters — coming in just a few short weeks. If you can access a local farm stand take advantage of the end of corn season and pick up some corn stalks for your porch.

Painted Pumpkins for Fall DecorWhether you have a sprawling country estate, or a quiet flat in the city, even adding a colorful fall wreath to your front door is a nod to the season. If you are into arts and crafts, why not spend a few quiet hours making your own — check out these fun ideas from Huffington Post for a DIY-weekend project.

Your local farmers market is also sure to have gourds in all shapes and sizes. Although most people set out to carve their pumpkins for fall decoration, painting pumpkins have become quite popular in recent years. This is certainly a neater and safer method which definitely appeals to parents with small children. For more ideas check out  Country Living’s 44 Creative Ideas for No-Carve Painted Pumpkins.

Fall Colors

Every season brings with it a palette of colors, and fall is no exception, and in some cases, it is one of the most beautiful times of the year. This color palette from Behr shows you the beautiful rainbow of hues inspired by the season.

Fall is a time of year where it gets a little darker, a little earlier, so you may find you are spending a little more time indoors. Is it time to paint that accent wall or repaint a bedroom to begin a redecoration project. Even though these colors are inspired by fall, many of them — Exotic Honey, New Brick, Shamrock — will still look even after the last leaf has fallen.

If painting isn’t quite what you had in mind, browse your nearest luxury home good store for textiles, fabrics, and linens in your favorite fall hues. It is so easy to add throw pillows, blankets, candles and other accents to a room to make it more festive.Fall Inspired Furniture on Carlisle Wide Plank Floors Blog

As you warm up your interior for fall don’t forget to pull out your favorite seasonal scented candles, to give your home that “pumpkin spice” or “caramel apple” scent. Unpack those cozy fall blankets, for relaxing by the fireplace, or curling up for one last day on the farmers porch.

The Season for New Floors

In the summer you were too busy to think about changing out your floors, but now is a great time to install new flooring, before the major holidays — and their guests — are upon you. You can even get that “pumpkin spice” look with your wood flooring. This home, just outside San Francisco, used a rich fall-inspired color on their wide pine flooring, commonly referred to as “pumpkin pine”, to add some warmth to their spaces all year long.  It is also a very nice contrast to the light wall colors and artistic decor.

Order a prefinished wood floor for added convenience, and you can have your new floors installed, and fresh new look for your home, in a matter of days.Pine flooring from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors

If you want to take a more temporary approach to fall decor there is an easy way to do that. According to designer Carrie Bloomston, find an accent or side table for your kitchen, dining room or entry. This piece of furniture will be used to create a “seasonal alter”. As the name implies, even if you do not decorate any of other areas of your home, this is the space you can use as a “tribute” to the current season.

“Lay down a seasonal textile, add a selection of vases or jars in a single color and then fill them and surround them with changing seasonal offerings such as branches from the trees in your yard.”  — Carrie Bloomston, SUCH Design, LLC

This layout from Home Design Blog, Eleven Magnolia Lane, is simple, colorful and oh so fall inspired. As a bonus, you can easily swap out the sign, the pumpkins and the dried flowers from season to season.
