Remodeling with Wide Plank Walnut Hardwood Flooring

We received a nice post on our Facebook page from a previous customer, J Prince and J Gab in Kansas.

I worked with them several years ago to design some wide plank hardwood flooring as part of a remodeling project in their home.  They chose our Wide Plank Walnut flooring and they turned out great!

Check out these before and after pictures of the project on our Facebook Page:

This project is a great example of how little things can make a big difference in the overall look and feel of a space.  For example:

1) They removed the dark wall paneling in the kitchen and living room, and painted the walls white which creates a dramatically more open space

2) They removed the existing wallpaper and updated the  bathroom with wood paneling wainscoting and painted the walls white to give it a fresh, clean look

3) They removed the carpet and repainted the Living Room walls white which makes the space more open, clean and much easier to take care of.

Walnut hardwood flooring is a naturally dark wood and many clients are concerned that dark wood floorings will make a space seem smaller.  While dark floors and dark wood paneling are perfect for a formal home office or In-Home theatre, most homeowners don’t want that look throughout their entire home.  By combining light colors, light trim, and other accents, just like you see here, dark floors can fit in any style room without closing the space in.

Are you remodeling and considering wide plank floors? Wondering what color wood floor is right?
