A major kitchen remodel may not be in your sights for 2014. It is a time-consuming and costly investment. Remodeling Magazine reports that the average major kitchen remodel can cost about $107,406! But you can update your kitchen without the expense of a major overhaul. Here are 4 ways:
1) Update your countertops. Wood countertops and butcher blocks will be popular in 2014. You can use antique wood to make a rustic looking countertop or use a dark wood, like Walnut to make something more refined. If wood is not your first choice, don’t worry there are many different options. Granite and soapstone are always popular. Porcelain and even concrete can be used for countertops. While exploring your options keep in mind all of them will be made from natural products – which can mean color variation and natural characteristics – so make sure you have the right expectations of the product you choose. Samples are a great way to verify this.
2) Install new Prefinished Hardwood Flooring. Chances are if you are updating your kitchen, you are going to live there while you do it. Don’t further complicate your life with a wood floor that needs to be finished on site. Order a prefinished hardwood floor and complete your job is half the time!
