Engineered Flooring

Engineered Flooring

Like our decision to offer prefinished flooring, adding engineered floors to our lineup was not something we undertook lightly. We knew that “engineered” is an industry term that can refer to a wide variety of floor offerings, many of which are of inferior quality and with short life spans, and we wanted to make sure we were able to create the highest quality of engineered floors, we wanted to flip the meaning on its head.

Misconceptions - Pricing & Stability

It is often thought that engineered flooring is a lower cost alternative in the industry.  But low-cost engineered floors have inherent risk, which create a higher cost of ownership and lower overall satisfaction once installed.  This is due to the fact that most engineered floors come in narrow pieces, short lengths, are made of inferior quality wood, and usually have a very thin layer - which means your floors can’t be refinished and require replacement sooner.  And not all engineered floors are as stable as some might claim.

It is also assumed that engineered floors are more stable than its solid counter-parts.  Here at Carlisle we have found that there are very few circumstances where a Carlisle engineered floor is going to be more stable than a Carlisle solid floor.  In fact common situations like concrete slab, radiant heat, waterfront homes have gladly welcomed solid floors with fantastic results.

Before deciding between solid or engineered it is important to talk with a Carlisle Wide Plank Specialist about the floors you are interested in, look and expectations for the floor you want to create, and we can make the best recommendation to outline a complete floor design and cost for you.
