Prefinished flooring has been out there for a long time, but we waited until we could be sure of getting it right. We still make each floor one at a time. The floor has the same lustrous finish that Carlisle finishes have been famous for. They are just as versatile in wood style, design, and color and best of all they are easy to maintain and touch up over the years.
Myths and Misconceptions
Prefinished hardwood flooring make every project much easier to complete because there is no finishing on site. This makes them very appealing. They are also seen as a low cost alternative in the flooring market which some people are seeking. But some associate prefinished with a cheap looking floor. Others have had the unfortunate experience of not being able to touch up a prefinished floor or refinish them so they feel like the floors do not last as long.
Here at Carlisle we put all those concerns to rest, and allow you to experience the most convenient and efficient installation possible in the industry! Our Unique Pre-Finish process was designed to bring out the beauty of the wood, not give it a plastic look. Our floors can be cleaned and touched up with ease over the years!

Customization
Each floor is finished per order so you choose the finish you want - don’t be limited to a line of colors. We have a variety of stains to choose from or we can create a custom color if you don’t see what you want!
Design Options
All of our Pine flooring, Hardwood floors and Hand-Distressed wood floors can be finished with Carlisle Custom Coat.
Finish Quality
Carlisle uses a high quality acrylic urethane for our Carlisle Custom Coat finish. This makes it durable, yet it is one of the easiest prefinished floors to touch up. We do not use Aluminum Oxide to prefinish our floors, in fact we discourage customers from this type of finish because they cannot be refinished or touched up over the years.
Back Sealing
All floors finished with the Carlisle Custom Coat prefinish are back-sealed for enhanced stability, and the tongue and groove will be finished as well, particularly important if you have chosen to have your floors stained. (Please note that the Carlisle Naturals Collection will be finished on the face of the boards only.)
Stain Application
If you have selected prefinished flooring that will be stained, we will not only stain the face of the boards but also the tongue and groove, a huge advantage especially with darker colored stains. Our stain also doesn’t hide the grain of the hardwood flooring but brings out the beauty of it.
Ease Of Maintenance
You can touch up the prefinished hardwood flooring without sanding with our Dust-Free Recoat Kit! One of the only prefinished floors on the market than can be refinished!
Dimensions
Our wood floors can be prefinished up to 11” wide, and we still maintain the long lengths! The industry average is 5” wide x 3’ long, so Carlisle prefinished floors dramatically improve the look of your room!
Character
Our floors maintain as much or as little character as you want so you can choose the grade you want for the look you want to create.
Environmentally Friendly
Our finishes have no measureable VOC’s, there is no off-gassing on site, and there are special anti-microbial additives to inhibit unhealthy airborne microbes.
Sheen Level
Our most popular sheen is the Satin sheen, but you can customize the sheen for the desired look.
