Carlisle Custom Coat™ Pre-finished Floors
Prefinished flooring has been out there a long time. But we waited until we could be sure of getting it right. Environmentally right. And right in terms of the lustrous traditional look for which Carlisle finishes are famous.
Carlisle Custom Coat™ stains and topcoats are totally unlike anything else in prefinished flooring, in both the way they are formulated and the way in which they are applied – so that you and/or your designer can work with a Carlisle Design Consultant to create virtually any floor you want. Prefinished and ready to install.
Sealed Top, Sides and Bottom
Most other prefinished floors are unfinished on the bottom. This can lead to moisture absorbtion that causes instability as well as mold and mildew problems. But Carlisle Custom Coat™ finishes are applied to the top, bottom, and tongues and grooves of every board to completely seal it and keep it stable. Plus, our finish incorporate a special additive, that further inhibits mold, mildew and other unhealthy airborne microbes.
This also means that our floors are ready for immediate installation. So you don’t have to first stack them in your house to let them acclimate. Or wait, wait, wait while each coat dries, which can be a real problem in humid climates.
FYI: No Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
First and foremost, these finishes are formulated to be environmentally friendly. For example, they contain no measurable VOCs, which can pose a significant health hazard, as they escape into the air when finishes are applied on site and can continue to “off-gas” after they cure. And unlike other prefinished floors, ours can easily be touched up when accidents happen, or totally refreshed after years of wear without a total re-sanding job.
Any color or surface treatment in widths up to 12 inches
Our Custom Coat finishes are available in all our historic stains or any individually created color you desire. Plus our boards are available in widths up to 12 inches. That’s another thing that no one else offers. We can also prefinish any and all of our custom handmade surfaces. We even offer a commercial version that stands up to the heaviest foot traffic in the busiest of places.
