Custom Beams & Paneling
For those who want to incorporate the dramatic look of rustic beams into their homes, the Carlisle Custom Shop offers both newly sawn and FSC Reclaimed Antique examples. Either may be used structurally in timber frame designs or merely aesthetically.
Our new beams are available in virtually any of our woods, depending on the application, and can take a variety of finished forms: rough-sawn, hand-planed, spoke-shaven or hand-hewn with an adze.
Our antique beams have been recycled from old barns and buildings slated for demolition. Each reflects the methods used in its original tooling and boasts an aged patina that only time, and more time, can create.
| Rough-Sawn contains the radial saw kerfs typical of old rough sawn beams. | |
| Hand-Planed contains flowing plane markings, reflecting the way in which old beams were smoothed. | |
| Hand-Hewn style is created an the adze, which is an antique tool that was used to sculpt beams. It created distinctive marking similar to but less rustic than that of an axe. | |
| Reclaimed Antique may contain original examples of any of the above. | |

Nothing adds more charm and warmth to a home than traditional wood paneling, that pays tribute to the 17th and 18th centuries. Profile treatments include v-match, single bead, feather and bead, and double bead.
It’s the ultimate complement to your Carlisle floor — whether you choose to match it exactly or choose different woods and stains to create a dramatic contrasting look.
