Parquet flooring first came about in the early 1600s and spawned many classic patterns, including stunning three-dimensional designs. Cutting and installation were very labor intensive and for centuries only the most affluent could afford parquet floors. With the advent of mass-production techniques, parquet became widely popular in America, until falling out of favor in the 1970s and 1980s because of the predictable-looking, low-quality examples, that were designed to compete with wall-to-wall carpeting.
Today, the elegant look of parquet has been rediscovered and is being used in some of the finest new homes in the country. Our Custom Shop not only offers parquet in a variety of woods and classic patterns, we will work with you to create your own unique patterns that can be incorporated into your Carlisle floor in various ways.
Our parquet is available four different ways: preassembled in sections that are either prefinished or plain, and in finished or unfinished individual pieces. So whether it’s simply a border, a center focal point or an entire floor, consider parquet from the Carlisle Custom Shop.
