Antique Farmhouse

Nothing defines America quite as well as the farmhouse. America, afterall, began as a nation of farmers. Through most of the 19th century, farming accounted for more than half of our gross national product. As recently as the early 20th century, more than 1/3 of our population was still involved in farming.

The farmhouse is traditionally a home that embraces the values of a simple and practical way of life. Farmhouse style is timeless and has evolved, as our nation has grown and prospered, from humble to more embellished, all the while maintaining functionality. In the beginning, it was not uncommon that as a family grew so did the farmhouse. Similarly, Carlisle’s Custom Shop stains have evolved to include both traditional and more modern color choices like this dark brownish/black stain.
