Autumn Leaf

Visitors from all over the world flock to New England every year during September and October to witness the explosion of color that floods our landscape. The transition from the greens of summertime to vibrant oranges, reds, and yellows of foliage season is an amazing process with each tree species lending its own unique hue. Autumn Leaf is reminiscent of the tannins often found in oaks, beeches, and speckled alders which result in the reddish brown leaf in the fall. Caused by an interruption in the natural production of chlorophyll, the best autumn colors are produced when dry, sunny days are followed by cool, dry nights.
