The Carlisle Story
At Carlisle, we don’t just build floors; we build relationships. I’m proud of the business that bears my family’s name, and remain committed to its 40-year tradition of quality craftsmanship and outstanding service.”

Our History
The Carlisle Family
In the 1960s, founder Dale Carlisle was building homes reminiscent of those he remembered from his childhood in New Hampshire — the old center-chimney colonials, saltboxes and traditional capes that still grace New England today. He found one common theme within our country’s early homes: every one had wide plank floors. Dale wanted these floors for the homes he built and restored. He wanted to recreate the authentic wide plank floors of our heritage. That was the beginning of the Carlisle family business. Read more about our history.
Historic Restorations
The Fitch Tavern (now a private residence)
For more than 40 years, Carlisle Wide Plank Floors has produced the finest restoration and reproduction wood floors in the world. Like our forefathers, we understand both the art of crafting a floor and the science of the trees. We know, for instance, that a tree grows better in a wet year than a dry year, and we select only the best wood from the center of the tree for our flooring. View all restorations.

Environmental & Social Commitments
Our world. Our environment. Our home. Each is a reflection of how we choose to live. At Carlisle, we’ve always believed that “green” means the responsible and accountable use — and reuse — of all our natural resources. When we craft our antique flooring, we are not only giving this treasured resource the second life it deserves, we are also helping reduce the stress on our forests. We are proud that our efforts to care for the environment have been nationally recognized by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Put simply, we believe that the living surface we create inside your home should reflect and respect the living surface nature created outside your home. Read more.

Our Wood, Our Craft
The single most important aspect of our manufacturing is the fact that we handcraft each plank, one at a time.
