When to Order

The how part is easy — just contact your personal Carlisle Design Consultant.

Choosing when can depend on whether this is a simple floor replacement/renovation or part of a new construction project. In either case, delivery takes four to eight weeks — a window that can be narrowed once we know the type of floor you want and where you want it delivered.

In the case of new construction, your floor installation should be among the very last things done. Unless your Carlisle floor has been prefinished, we highly recommend that the boards be stacked with shims between them and allowed to acclimate indoors for a week or two before installation — preferably with heat or air-conditioning turned on. Talk to your contractor about how to best schedule this, considering our four to eight weeks timeframe.

A good rule of thumb is to install the floor after the drywall has been primed. Then carefully cover it with Homasote fiberboard, cardboard, heavy drop cloths or some other substantial protection. Once painting has been completed, baseboards installed and light fixtures hung and your home is in “move-in” condition, stains and/or topcoats can be applied if your floor was delivered unfinished.
