The Best Planks
It’s simple really. The best floor planks come from the best trees found in the finest, most sustainable forests for each species.
Why? It really comes down to the heart content found in a tree trunk. Heartwood represents the densest vertical grain of the tree which gives it superior strength and long-term stability, as well as the rich color, original character, and smooth stain absorption that woodworkers have celebrated for centuries.
Today, very few wood floors are comprised exclusively of this precious part of the tree. At Carlisle Wide Plank Floors, we insist on nothing else and we only harvest our trees from sources known for their exceptional heart content.
The illustration below, shows the various stages of cutting a log that is required to produce the Carlisle quality boards we demand for our wide plank floors.
By using this premium wood, the floor boards have maximum grain density for superior strength and long term stability, while also providing wood flooring in some of the widest widths and longest lengths in the industry. Carlisle floors offer better performance in a variety of climates, and when installed on today’s most popular subfloor systems including radiant heat, concrete slab and traditional plywood. Carlisle wide plank floors are also suitable for residential and commercial applications.
