How We Deliver
Do-It-Yourself
Do-It-Yourself
For the past 40 years we have finely crafted flooring that is easy and enjoyable to install. You do not have to be a professional installer or carpenter - in fact, most of our homeowners that use our flooring in their remodel project have successfully done their own installation! We provide both verbal and written instruction, as well as make ourselves available 7 days a week to answer your questions. We want this to be a fun project that will result in an outcome you'll be proud to say you did yourself!

Before getting started, take a moment to remember the reasons why you purchased a hand-crafted traditional wide plank floor. You appreciate the natural distressing that may come with living on your floor, depending on the hardness of the wood you chose. It's part of the character that defines this type of flooring. This mindset will allow you to approach your installation being a little easier on yourself! Sure you might make a few little mistakes, but this will only add to a look that is appropriate for this type of flooring, and the feeling of accomplishment once you realize the overall beauty of something you did yourself far outweighs any little gap, or dent or transition that doesn't line up exactly right. Many times it's this character that customers are paying dearly for to have us contribute to beforehand!

Here are a few things to keep in mind before getting started:

  • It takes the same amount of time to install a 12" or wider floor board as it does a narrow board. And a wide board with lengths up to 16' will take up a lot more space - so you are installing significantly fewer boards!

  • The personality of each board actually makes the install much more fun than installing something that has been through a mass production line - you are designing your own floor, choosing your favorite planks to put in prominent areas of the room. It gives you the opportunity to personalize your floor much more to your liking. The installer doesn't have this on his mind when putting your floors in, rather it's much more about just getting the job done.

  • The single biggest thing we find in going to job sites is that the homeowner would actually have liked more character left in the floor vs. trying to hide it or cut it out. It's these natural characteristics created by mother nature that make a wide plank floor so unique.

  • All of the tools needed for proper installation are readily available today in all local rental and hardware stores - and you may already have most of them in your own tool shed!

  • We make the installation easier with our person to person customer help throughout the entire job. You can call directly every day and talk to someone that will gladly walk you through the job. This is our favorite part of the sale! We have all installed our floors and can give you the confidence to do a great job!

  • Because of the quality of our wood and its fine milling, most do-it-yourselfers find that they don't even have to sand the floor before finishing it. In fact, in most instances we recommend that you don't sand your floor - this tends to be the most intimidating part of an installation, and you can take that right off the list of things to worry about!

  • You can put all the money you were going to spend on a professional installer into a much higher quality wood floor. Many times a professional installation equals the price of the wood!
