Green Interiors – Is your Design Mild or Wild?
St. Patricks’s day is just a few days away.
In honor of this national celebration, we’re sharing some interiors that will have you reminiscing of the emerald isles. From sensational architecture to interior accents, we’re sure you are going to love what we’ve discovered. And we’re wondering what style do you prefer – mild or wild?
Green is probably not the most common color for a residential interior. It can be too bold for some, for others, it gives them just the right explosion of colors. For the select few, it is just not bold enough, as you will see. Luckily, the green spectrum of colors suit a variety of tastes, from simple sage to shamrock green. Each of them can make a different statement, depending on your overall interior design, and how you use it. So check out our mild and wild rooms and decide which you like best!
Bedroom
Mild
Green accent pieces infuse the room with color (We think some dark wood flooring might have gone a little better with the color scheme). The high ceilings and abundance of natural light make it possible to mix in some color in strategic locations, without compromising the monochromatic, and modern feel.
Wild
This Utah bedroom, and its designer, is definitely not afraid of color, plastering all the walls with bright, bold, lime green paint.
Sitting Room
Mild
If you want something a little less striking, but just as elegant, this Houston home has done it right, with gorgeous drapes to match the emerald green amrchair. The painting brings out the green in the room, and ties together the greens and Radiant Orchid, the 2014 Pantone color of the Year. White acts as a lovely pallette to make the design simple, yet sophisticated, and totally easy to redecorate when/if the times comes.
Wild
For those of you who just love color, wherever you can put color, this room is right up your alley. Raised wall paneling is painted green and borders are finished in gold to draw out the architectural details. The pink chairs and curtains are a nice contrast to the bold hue. The gold tones don’t stop at the wall paneling, but continue in the chairs and furniture to tie the entire decor together with a neat, little bow for this Victorian Style sitting room. This is definitely a “go big” design decision because it is not easy to sand down and refinish this kind of custom wall paneling, given the intricate curves and details of the design.
Kitchens
Mild
If you love old world, you will love this California kitchen. The old world kitchen cabinets feature a sage green hue, with a distressed finish, and wrought iron hardware. The kitchen also features copper pots, bronze, gold and other metallic finishes – a popular trend for the 2014! The green color is not too empowering giving the room a simple, yet elegant feel.
Wild
This kitchen by Nico van der Meulen Architects is definitely a bit more on the wild side. The veneer wood cabinets and island present dynamic variation in the grain and color of the wood. The green plants, wall tiles, accent walls and lighting are definitely more striking, giving the room a “pop art” feel.
Bathroom
Mild
This simple bath/powder room introduces lime-green geometric lines that create an interesting effect, while maintaining a clean look, against the white cabinets and countertops. Understated elegance comes to mind on this!
Wild
The green and orange colors of the wall take this bathroom to whole new level. The colors, cabinetry and mirror give it a mid-century vintage look

Can you say emerald green and leopard print? If you are going to go bold, go big, with this dynamic duo.
