This lovely Virginia residence features 8-inch wide Ash floors — perfect for a contemporary home with a minimalist spirit. The owner wanted to invest in a luxurious floor that was going to hold up well throughout the home’s lifetime. They also needed it to provide a beautiful visual anchor for the decor. The interior spaces were designed to showcase the couple’s newly renovated floating staircase, roaring 20’s artwork, and an eclectic array of international furniture. The floor was customized to have dramatic lengths and widths to minimizes the number of seams in the floor. Some planks are up to 14-feet long! The 8-inch wide floorboards were pre-finished with a custom driftwood gray stain formulated to bring out the natural dark qualities of the grain. These dark markings in the floor perfectly match the elegant kitchen island and other decorative elements in the home.
