What is Herringbone parquet flooring?
Herringbone parquet flooring features rectangular floorboards that are laid out in a zigzag pattern, where the end of one board meets the next at a right angle. The effect is a visually appealing geometric pattern that infuses a space with movement, energy and sense of luxury.
Herringbone is slightly different than Chevron parquet flooring, where the ends of each board are cut at an angle so that adjoining boards make a V shape.
Herringbone parquet flooring can be made from virtually any type of wood. At Carlisle, we offer 10 types of hardwood, three species of pine and a variety of reclaimed flooring options that are all suitable for herringbone installation.
Herringbone parquet flooring can be prefinished at Carlisle’s custom shop, where the floorboards can be cut, sanded, stained and sealed under ideal conditions. Prefinishing your parquet floor will make the installation process easier and more affordable, and will let you avoid the mess, odor and inconvenience of finishing your floor after it is installed in your home.
In addition to our two collections of engineered herringbone floors, we can create parquet engineered wood flooring with a variety of hardwood veneers and in a number of standard or custom patterns.
